Here is how you mute comment notifications in Google Docs, Sheets and Slides

You need to be able to collaborate with your team members quickly and efficiently to get things done. That's where Google Docs and Sheets comment notifications come in.

Comment notifications alert you whenever someone leaves a comment on a document or spreadsheet you're working on. This means you can stay up-to-date on changes and feedback without constantly checking the doc or sheet.

Why you should have comment notifications turned on. 

There are several ways that comment notifications can benefit you. For example, they can help you with the following:

  • Improve communication: Comment notifications make it easy to collaborate on a file with your team members, even if they're not in the same room.

  • Get feedback quickly: When someone leaves a comment on a Google Doc or Sheets, you can see it immediately, which can help you improve it before you send it off to a client.

  • Track progress: Comment notifications can help you track your team members' progress. This can help ensure everyone is on the same page and that projects progress on time.

Why you might wish to turn off comment notifications.

If you find that comment notifications distract you or you're feeling overwhelmed and need a break from notifications. It's perfectly fine to turn them off. 

Here are the steps on how to turn off comment notifications in Google Docs and Google Sheets:

  • Open the document or spreadsheet that you want to turn off notifications for.

  • Click on the "Comment history" icon in the top-right corner of the document or spreadsheet.

  • Click on the "Bell" icon.

  • Under "Comments," select the option that you want.

    • All: You'll be notified about all new comments.

    • Comments for you: You'll be notified about @mentions and threads involving you.

    • None: You'll never receive emails about comments for that file.

  • Click on "Save."

Once you've turned off notifications, you'll no longer receive emails about new comments. You can still view and respond to comments by opening the document or spreadsheet and clicking the "Comment History" icon.
