How can I upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11?
Windows 10 will reach End-of-Life on 14th October 2025. After this date, Microsoft will no longer provide support or security updates for most Windows 10 owners. If you have deep pockets—and we mean really deep ones—you can pay Microsoft to continue accessing security updates. For nearly everyone else, you'd be best to upgrade to Windows 11.
Windows 11 has strict hardware requirements that your computer system must meet to run. If your computer is still running Windows 10 and has not been automatically updated to Windows 11, it most likely lacks the hardware needed to run the new operating system. If your computer can't run Windows 10, you will need to replace the computer with a device that can run Windows 11.
How do I check if I can upgrade to Windows 11?
The easiest way to see if your current Windows 10 computer can be upgraded to Windows 11 is to go to Windows Updates. If the computer can be upgraded, a message will be displayed.
Open Windows Settings: Go to the Start menu and click the "Settings" icon (gear icon).
Go to Windows Update: In Settings, click "Update & Security" and then select "Windows Update."
Check for updates: Click on the "Check for updates" button. A message stating whether your PC is eligible for the Windows 11 upgrade will appear.
Alternatively, you can download the PC Health Check App from Microsoft. It will tell you if your system meets the requirements to run Windows 11 and provide a link to download it.
What can I do if my PC can't run Windows 11?
The only realistic option is to replace your computer with a new computer that comes with Windows 11.
