The Founder's Log Podcast - April 2024 Recap
As a Google Partner, we pay close attention to Google's developer conference. Next 24 took place in April, and while we did not fly to Las Vegas to attend in person, we did watch the live streams. This year's big announcement was Google Vids, a new video editing suite of tools coming to Google Workspace. What makes Google Vids handy is that it uses AI to help users create videos without needing filming or editing skills and allows a new way for Google Workspace by Kimbley IT clients to disseminate information to team members, clients and partners. Google Vids will be launching later this year.
In other news, we are currently talking with a renewable energy company already using Google Workspace. As they grow, they would like to outsource the management of the suite and their IT to experts like Kimbley IT as they're concerned that they won't keep up with the latest additions to the suite and the security requirements they need to have in place. It is always nice when you get a lead that is thinking about their needs and requirements further down the road, rather than the majority that only start thinking about IT assistance and support after they are already struggling.
Part of the team went to an industry event hosted by one of the vendors we use; it turned out to be a terrible event, poorly managed, and with inadequate equipment setup for the speakers holding talks during the day.

Assistance and Support Statistics
Subscribers contacted us 99 times. Out of those, 85 got in touch to request assistance (they want to know how to do something better). In comparison, 14 asked for support (something that needs looking at).
We're using new terminology when reporting our statistics below. A "complete interaction" is from when a subscriber contacts us to when they can continue with their work.
Of those who sent a message for assistance asking how to do something better, 70 received a complete interaction within five minutes, now being able to do something better than they could before. Fifteen received a complete interaction within five and thirty minutes.
Of the subscribers sending a message for support, 8 received a complete interaction and returned their work within five minutes. Four received a complete interaction and returned to their work within thirty minutes. One request was more nuanced, and the interaction took thirty minutes to an hour. The final request was a problem with the Google Workspace admin panel, and it took a couple of days for Google Engineering to rectify it; this did not affect anyone's ability to work, but it did stop a back-end admin change from taking place.
Ninety-three subscribers contacted us through our unique instant messaging service, the quickest way to get in contact, and six emailed.
The stats show that twelve subscribers would not have gotten in contact if the companies they worked for had offered regular training through Learning Sessions by Kimbley IT.
