Why you should use Priority Inbox in Gmail

Priority Inbox is a feature in Gmail that helps you prioritise your emails by automatically identifying the messages that are most important to you.

It does this by using a combination of machine learning algorithms and your own email behaviour to identify emails that are likely to be important to you based on factors such as the sender, the subject line, and the content of the email.

It then separates these important emails from the rest of your emails by displaying them at the top of your inbox so that you can deal with them first.

How to enable Priority Inbox in Gmail:

  1. Log in to your Gmail account.

  2. Click on the gear icon in the top right corner of the page, and the "Quick Settings" sidebar will open.

  3. In the "Inbox Type" section, select "Priority Inbox".

  4. Close the "Quick Settings" sidebar.

Your Priority Inbox will now be enabled, and important emails will be displayed at the top of your inbox.

You'll also now see to the left of each email in your inbox called "importance markers". These little gold arrows let you tell fine control and reclassify which emails are important to you and which are not. If an email has a gold arrow next to it, Gmail believes it is important to you. You can toggle the gold markers on and off to reclassify an email and help Gmail learn for future emails you may receive.
