A Chromebook is perfect for your team.

When you onboard a new team member, you instantly think of purchasing a Windows laptop or a MacBook for them. But did you know there is a more secure and better-priced option? Chromebooks are laptops that run on ChromeOS, a Google-created operating system.

With a Chromebook, your team gets a fast and secure performance, seamless integration with Google Workspace, and the ability to run Android apps. These features make them perfect for managing emails, creating and collaborating on documents, and making video calls quickly from everywhere. Chromebooks are incredibly popular with our clients.

Why are Chromebooks ideal for your business?

Using your Chromebook is just like using the Chrome browser, which you and your team use daily, so minimal training is required for your team to make the switch. And because it is Chrome-based, all your favourite extensions work seamlessly with the added ability to run Android apps

Over the years, we have found Chromebooks are perfect for knowledge workers—most of your team who deal with emails, creating/editing/sharing documents and spreadsheets, online programs and video calls. Your graphic designers and video editors would still be better off using a Mac, as the software they need to edit video and images is not currently available on ChromeOS.

The unique way a ChromeOS (that runs on Chromebooks) works means that a virus or ransomware can't infect the computer; since Chromebooks launched in 2011, there has not been a single case of a ransomware infection! Because no software can be installed, no software provider can install updates that prevent the computer from working, unlike Windows and the Cloudstrike kerfuffle in 2024. If the worst happens and the device gets physically damaged, all you need to do is sign in with another Chrome device, and all your work, settings, and preferences will instantly reappear just as you let them.

What Chromebook should you buy?

If you have never bought a Chromebook, it can be confusing to determine which device to buy. Many different manufacturers offer Chromebooks.

There are a couple of golden rules when buying a Chromebook that you should always abide by:

  • Never buy a Chromebook with less than 8GB of RAM.

  • Go for Chromebooks with Intel i3 and i5 processors.

  • Try to pick a Chromebook with a 3:2 aspect ratio screen (more space to see things).

  • You should always purchase a Chromebook Plus model, which Google has certified to meet certain specifications.

The Chromebook we recommend to clients changes over time as new models come out; currently, in July 2024, the model we recommend is the Acer Chromebook Plus 515. You can watch a review of the device below.

What can I do with my old laptops?

Google has you covered with ChromeOS Flex. This is a free download that you can install on any old Windows or Mac machine and convert into a fully up-to-date Chromebook, so those devices no longer need to end up in a store cupboard for eternity and can now be reused.
