Shenzhen leading the way with Electric Vehicles

In Shenzhen a city with a population of 12.5m nearly all the 21,000 Taxis 🚖 are fully electric.

There are estimated to be around 100 taxis left that still run on petrol. All the buses are electric.

Cars that are electric get tax cuts and can be identified by green number plates rather than the usual blue plates.

The green number plate idea is clever as it makes people want to own a car that has a green plate, because its new, modern, different and something your neighbour probably hasn't got yet.

The green plate has a social status attached, as electric cars are still considerably more expensive than their fossil fuel counterpart.

China is leading the way on deployment of electric vehicles.
