How to sync your computer with Google Drive
Google Drive is part of the Google Workspace productivity suite. Drive lets you easily create and collaborate with your team on text documents, spreadsheets, slides, and many other common files. It also doesn't matter where you are located or what device you use, as Google Drive is accessible through the web at drive.google.com.
You can also install Google Drive on your computer to access your files through File Explorer on Windows and Finder on Mac. This blog post will guide you through installing Drive For Desktop on your Windows PC - the process is very similar on Mac.
How to install Drive For Desktop
First off, you need to grab the program to install. You do this by going to Google Drive on the web at drive.google.com, clicking on the Settings cog in the top right and selecting Drive For Desktop. Another web page will then open where you can download the program.
Once you have downloaded the program, double-click the program to run it and let it install on your computer. During the setup, you'll be asked how you want the program to function; select the settings that suit your usage case.
After completing the installation, open File Explorer on Windows or Finder on Mac and down the left-hand column, you should see Google Drive listed. Click on Google Drive, and you should see your files stored in Google Drive.
You can now easily add, delete and modify these files, like any other files stored on your computer. The only difference is that changes you make will be synchronised with your Google Drive on the web and any other devices you have installed Google Drive on.
Better file management for your company
Many businesses struggle with file management. The arrow of time dictates that anything organised will become disorganised, never more true than with folders and files. As an authorised Google Workspace partner, our knowledge is second to none when it comes to organising and keeping files organised and secure in Google Drive.
