How to set your work location in Google Calendar

With lots of companies experimenting with hybrid working, Google Calendar has added a new feature that makes it easy for you to let your team members know where you will be working from every day.

This feature in Google Calendar allows you to mark your work location for each day of the week. So you can let your team know if you are working from home for the day, the office on another day or somewhere else entirely.

How to set up your work location in Calendar

When you load Google Calendar for the first time, you will be greeted with a screen that asks you where you generally work from most of the time. Once you have set your default location, you will notice a new chip appears at the top of each day in your Calendar with the place you selected mentioned. You can click on this location chip to change your location for any specific day.

If you have a regular work pattern, say you work two days in the office and three at home, you can go into Google Calendar settings and set your typical work location pattern for each weekday. This way, you don't need to keep manually set your location every day.

How to deploy hybrid working in your business

To attract the best talent to your business, you need to be offering a hybrid work environment where team members can choose where they are most comfortable working.

To do this, you need to be using a productivity suite that will help you do this. Microsoft Office completely fails at hybrid working and collaboration. You need to be using Google Workspace to provide your team with easy to access video calls and document collaboration.
